As my husband would say, “Who goes into battle and doesn’t get hit. When you’re fighting in a boxing ring, you’re going to get hit and you’re going to get wounded. But, you shake it off and get back up and fight again.” That one statement was simple, yet so profound. Most of us beat ourselves up with would’ve, could’ve, should’ve, or asking ‘WHY’ is this happening or become resentful, bitter and dog madd when crisis, injustice and storms arise. Christ wants to change our perspectives on how to look at our casualties in the midst of our storms.
So many people are going through some major storms, some self-inflicted, some enemy incited and sometimes, it’s just life, circumstances or storms that occur because we live in a fallen world. Some people are beaten up, weary, panic stricken and overcome with fear. Some are simple weary of life, journeying and pressing to prevail against the storms and waves and barely getting by.
Truth is, life has a way of beating you down and the enemy has a way of wearing you out.
Some things The Lord wants us to remember during the midst of a battle, storm and casualties we face:
- If God allows storms to come, He’s trying to pull you closer to Him
- He’s preparing you for the things to come, strengthening & deepening your Character to take you to the next level
- He’s teaching your hands to war and fingers to fight spiritually
- If you loss something during battle, He’s getting ready to bless you with something better
- He plans on taking your tragedy and turning it into your message
- He’s helping you gain wisdom in your areas of weakness
- He’s increasing your anointing and power
- Some storms come prior to a great blessing
- He’s correcting, teaching and pruning your character
- He’s helping you gain a deeper trust in Him
- He’s testing and giving you an opportunity to grow and come up
- He’s stretching your faith
- He’s sending storms so His Power and Miracles can manifest
- He’s reminding you that He is Sovereign and all things, even the enemy is subject to Him and He is In Control ALWAYS
This list can go on and on.
Truth is, there are just some things we can never explain, heartache that’s unspeakable. Sometimes, injustice happens that’s unexplainable and it breaks our souls. It’s during these times, we have to hold onto The Word of God like never before. Scripture The Lord wants to remind us during these times,
Proverbs 24:16 (ESV) – for the righteous falls seven times and rises again…
Jeremiah 29:11(NIV) – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Job 13:15 (KJV) – Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him…
Isaiah 61:3-11 (GNT) – 3 To give to those who mourn in Zion Joy and gladness instead of grief, A song of praise instead of sorrow. They will be like trees That the Lord himself has planted. They will all do what is right, And God will be praised for what he has done.
4 They will rebuild cities that have long been in ruins. 5 My people, foreigners will serve you. They will take care of your flocks And farm your land and tend your vineyards. 6 And you will be known as the priests of the Lord,
The servants of our God. You will enjoy the wealth of the nations And be proud that it is yours.7 Your shame and disgrace are ended. You will live in your own land, And your wealth will be doubled; Your joy will last forever. 8 The Lord says, “I love justice and I hate oppression and crime. I will faithfully reward my people And make an eternal covenant with them. 9 They will be famous among the nations; Everyone who sees them will know That they are a people whom I have blessed.” 10 Jerusalem rejoices because of what the Lord has done. She is like a bride dressed for her wedding. God has clothed her with salvation and victory.
11 As surely as seeds sprout and grow, The Sovereign Lord will save his people, And all the nations will praise him.
Genesis 50: 20 (NIV) – 20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.
In the midst of a battle, God hears our cries. In the midst of battle, God is inclined to our prayers. In the midst of battle, if you’ve been faithful and you endure casualties during war, He’s setting you up for a blessing, just hold on, fix your faith and eyes on Him, He’s bringing you THROUGH the storm to an expected end. Be encouraged and inspired today, if God be for you, He’s more than anything against you. These are the lessons I’m learning in the midst of my families storms.
