I dreamt a while back that people were trying to kill me. The people in my dreams were familiar faces, people I see everyday and they chased me all throughout my building. Every time they’d get close enough to kill me, I’d wound them which slowed them down, but, they wouldn’t die. I spent the entire dream on the run wounding the enemy, but not killing them off completely, hence, me running in a constant state of panic and running for my life. God was speaking to me in that dream.
A friend showed up in the dream and I said to her, ” these people are trying to kill me and they just won’t die, I keep stabbing them but they won’t die.”
She said to me in her jamaican accent, “Cha, give me that knife.” She went in my room, slit the enemies throat and that was the end of the enemy trying to kill me and the end of that dream.
I woke up and prayed about the dream and asked The Lord, “What am I AFRAID to kill in my life?”
For some reason, I was reluctant to kill the enemy. I knew the enemy was trying to kill me and the need to kill them was there, but something in me wouldn’t let me do it, so, I would do enough to harm and slow them down, but not enough to completely kill them.
That dream reminded me of a passage of scripture I’m studying in 1 Samuel 17,
4 A man named Goliath, from the city of Gath, came out from the Philistine camp to challenge the Israelites…8 Goliath stood and shouted at the Israelites, “What are you doing there, lined up for battle? I am a Philistine, you slaves of Saul! Choose one of your men to fight me. 9 If he wins and kills me, we will be your slaves; but if I win and kill him, you will be our slaves. 10 Here and now I challenge the Israelite army. I dare you to pick someone to fight me!” 11 When Saul and his men heard this, they were terrified…16 Goliath challenged the Israelites every morning and evening for forty days.
23 …Goliath came forward and challenged the Israelites as he had done before. And David heard him. 24 When the Israelites saw Goliath, they ran away in terror. 25 “Look at him!” they said to each other. “Listen to his challenge!
A couple of things The Lord spoke to me about in that dream:
- The root of whatever I’m struggling with in my life is fear, all types of fears. The foundational root is fear of failure, fear of the giant, listening to his taunts and looking at the enormity his size and listening to his lies…’you can’t win…you failed before and you’ll fail again…you’re a disappointment to God every time you fall…you can’t do this, you always fail….”
- I can’t kill an enemy I’m not willing to kill, I’ll only wound them, but they’ll always chase and torment me. Message: You can’t just be ok with injuring the enemy, you have to be willing to cut off his head and be done with it. Partial obedience is disobedience, I have to cut the enemies head off and stop being in agreement with him.
- I have to be willing to die to whatever is keeping me bound, the crutch, whatever I’m holding onto and afraid to let go of, so I’m praying for courage to be willing to be uncomfortable and die to that thing that’s keeping me bound.
Truth is, I’m struggling right now in my weight…I kept off the inches, but the scale has gone up 30 pounds, some of which is water weight, but at times I feel very helpless and discouratged in that area. I’m doing all the right things, eating right DURING THE DAY, exercising, but my giant is late night/sleep eating and lack of consistency. The giant’s lies, taunts, my own habits, fears and flesh cries out louder and dominates over what I know to be true in Christ.
I know I’m feeding the giant of my past…sorrow, sadness, rejection, grief, abandonment and corrupted foundations of my past…it’s bigger than food…I’m feeding pains and fighting foundational demonic seeds and roots of my past and food satisfies and comforts the Little Ke’Shawn in me…it’s a spiritual fight over my destiny and calling.
This message isn’t just for me, it’s for us as Children of God and Heirs of Christ.
So, the question The Lord is posing to you is,
“What Is Your Giant and What are You Afraid to Kill in Your Life?”
It may not be food or obesity for you, it’ could be something or someone else holding you back from winning over a particular area in your life.
The Hope in all of this is that we have Jesus Christ. We don’t have to listen or believe our Goliath’s, his lies. In my “Prayer Rain” book, the Lord is reminding me of who I am and I am decreeing and declaring those scriptures. He’s also reminding me of scriptures that declare that I don’t have to be afraid. David said to Goliath so valiantly in 1 Samuel 17,
26 David asked the men who were near him, “What will the man get who kills this Philistine and frees Israel from this disgrace? After all, who is this heathen Philistine to defy the army of the living God?”32 David said to Saul, “Your Majesty, no one should be afraid of this Philistine! I will go and fight him.”
45 David answered, “You are coming against me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the Israelite armies, which you have defied. 46 This very day the Lord will put you in my power; I will defeat you and cut off your head. And I will give the bodies of the Philistine soldiers to the birds and animals to eat. Then the whole world will know that Israel has a God, 47 and everyone here will see that the Lord does not need swords or spears to save his people. He is victorious in battle, and he will put all of you in our power.”
48 Goliath started walking toward David again, and David ran quickly toward the Philistine battle line to fight him. 49 He reached into his bag and took out a stone, which he slung at Goliath. It hit him on the forehead and broke his skull, and Goliath fell face downward on the ground. 50 And so, without a sword, David defeated and killed Goliath with a sling and a stone! 51 He ran to him, stood over him, took Goliath’s sword out of its sheath, and cut off his head and killed him.”
Conclusion, you wanna know why David won over Goliath? David believed God! His faith in God, not himself, made him courageous, strong and victorious, Period!
Faith and our belief in Christ and what He’s already done will help us win the war. We Are NOT ALONE, Let’s Cut off Goliath’s head today!!!!
Prayer: Lord, God of all Courage, make us fearless today. Remind us who You You Are and Who we Are in YOU! Today, you have given us in Jesus Christ the supernatural power and authority to confront our enemy and cut off his head. Today, we die to ourselves over and over and over again until our enemy is defeated. We Can’t BUT YOU CAN! Today, moment to moment and every day, we walk through our process knowing the devil and our Goliath is already defeated and have willing hearts and courage to die to ourselves and cut off our enemies head…we are already victorious In Jesus Name, Amen!
