God has a way of getting our attention. If there’s something He wants you to do or is asking of you, He’ll make that message loud and clear, which is what He did for me recently.
As previously mentioned in other post, God has me in a “wilderness” season. A “wilderness” season for me has been a place with God where I’ve been tried and pruned by fire so He can get me to a place of maturity in Him. It’s a place where I’ve gotten to know who God truly is, His character, beyond knowing His hand and what he can do for me. It’s a place where I get to understand for myself where I fall short spiritually and areas I need His help improving. This “wilderness” has been a trial by fire to help strengthen my faith and trust in Him and it’s ultimate purpose is for my good and not for my harm.
I didn’t ordain this season, it’s not my choice, it wasn’t a specific sin I committed or things I’ve done wrong to get here, this is the appointed season for my life.
A few things I’ve learned about this “Wilderness”:
-
The “Wilderness” Is a Place Where God Takes You To Prepare and Fully Mature You For Things Yet To Come.
-
The “Wilderness” Is The Place God May Lead You Before The Promise.
-
God Is Watching How We Handle Our “Wilderness.”
Jesus Himself went through a season of “wilderness” to receive the promises that awaited Him. Jesus had to go through some…ALOT…of things and had to discipline Himself to receive what was for Him:
Luke 4 (NLT)
The Temptation of Jesus
4 Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness,[a] 2 where he was tempted by the devil for forty days. Jesus ate nothing all that time and became very hungry….13 When the devil had finished tempting Jesus, he left him until the next opportunity came.14 Then Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the Holy Spirit’s power. Reports about him spread quickly through the whole region. 15 He taught regularly in their synagogues and was praised by everyone….
Throughout this entire season, I’ve given it my all in being faithful over all He’s given me…But there is more He’s requiring of me and some things I haven’t learned yet. I know with every fiber of my being, He’s trying to take me to a new place, so in order for me to get there, I have to do more than what I’ve been doing.
If What I’m Doing Isn’t Working, I Have To Change What I’m Doing!
I ran across my Daystar Newsletter in my magazine rack. I usually don’t have time to read it, but this day, I started reading the article on the featured guest, Terri Savelle Foy. I’ve seen her on Daystar before and she was so inspiring, but haven’t seen her recently. She mentioned in the article that when she was in a rut in her life, the Lord lead her to commit to developing new habits. That concept really resonated with me. I went to do something on the computer and ran across her YouTube channel and saw the the continuation on what she focused on in the article. That was God getting my attention.
This week, God is Calling Me To Commit To Things I Haven’t Committed To Before & He’s Calling YOU too!
I can’t get to that next level or my promise land haphazardly…I have to be strategic to get there. It’s time to raise the bar and begin to really implement new habits to get where I’m trying to go…my promise land…my weight goal of 145 pounds…that worship album…the unwritten books…the ministry…that business and so much more God has given me.
I will leave you with these scriptures:
Jeremiah 1:13 (NLT)
13 Then the Lord spoke to me again and asked, “What do you see now?…”
Habakkuk 2:2-3 (ESV)
The Righteous Shall Live by His Faith
2 And the Lord answered me:
“Write the vision;
make it plain on tablets,
so he may run who reads it.
3 For still the vision awaits its appointed time;
it hastens to the end—it will not lie.
If it seems slow, wait for it;
it will surely come; it will not delay.
