In my conclusion of my “Dying To Self” series, The Lord has taught me some heavy hitter hard core lessons. By far, this season has been the most difficult part of my journey, learning to die to ME and die daily as a lifestyle. Dying to self is mandatory and necessary for everyone if we dare to possess the promise-land Christ assigned to us.
In my dying to self journey, here are some things I’ve learned and learning along the way. If we say YES to God, fully surrender to Him and Die to ourselves:
- We break strongholds in our lives and the strongmen are forced to leave
- We gain power in the areas of weakness every time we say NO to satan
- We move closer to God
- We move closer to our purpose & destiny
- We operate in Power PLUS Authority
- We move further away from our past
- We will walk in the supernatural
- The manifestations of God’s promises unfold
- We walk in the spirit and have control over our flesh
- We are truly effective in the Kingdom of God
When we say yes to our flesh and satan:
- We give the enemy power to control us
- We make room for more demonic activity to take place in our lives
- We lose some sense of control over areas we let satan rule
- Strongmen get stronger the more we yield to him
- Our lives become stale and stagnant
- We lose power & authority to be effective for God’s Kingdom
- We lose our joy & peace
- We live in torment in areas not surrendered
- We open the door to various levels of guilt, shame, sadness, depression, discouragement, hopelessness, rebellion, etc.
- We move out of God’s will and further away from our purpose and calling in Christ
- We will suffer the consequences of our choices
- We places walls and wedges between us and God
- We grieve the Holy Spirit
- We create vicious habits and cycles
- We create ungodly soul ties
- We leave an inheritance of giants for our children to fight
- We give satan access to wreck havoc in other areas in our lives
- We keep our old man alive, our past alive and our new man in Christ dead
Here are some quotes that resonated with me taken from the book “Death to Self…” by Guillermo Maldonado:
“While you live on this Earth, you will be required to die to self, daily. And you will die many deaths.”
” There will always be problems in a marriage when one of the two refuses to die to self.”
” The only thing that authorizes satan to attack our lives is our disobedience and our lack of death to our old ways.”
“Christ will only be Lord in the area that you surrender to Him.”
“Selfishness will always be the greatest obstacle to doing God’s will and committing to Him.”
“Christ had to die to the fact that He was God Almighty.”
“A principal in which Jesus operated as a Man was self-denial. He did not hold anything back;instead, He completely surrendered.”
“The measure that we have of God will be the measure that we have died to the ‘old man.'”
“Until our death for Him equals his death for us, we will not have access to the total power of resurrection.”
“You will need to know for who and why you should die because if you don’t know it, you will never do it.”
“Every change begins with frustration over a present situation and a death.”
“Surrendering your will is not instantaneous; it is progressive, gradual, and of your own free will. For those who surrender, their will is broken and will never tell God, “I can’t.”
“Nothing is a sacrifice until it dies.”
“We do not know how to live in the Spirit until we attend our own funeral; the funeral of our old man.”
“The supernatural power of God requires a voluntary death which is the emptying of one’s self.”
“A death in God always requires a resurrection. Therefore, if you die to self, you will gain access to the divine power of the resurrection.”
“Adventuring Through the Bible” by Ray C. Stedman said,
“Title to the (Promise) land is a gift of God; possession of the land is the result of an obedient walk…You can have all you are willing to take…But possessing the land would not be easy. The way to victory was through the battlefield of spiritual warfare….”
Growing in Christ and becoming all He called us to be is rough, it’s hard, it’s arduous, sacrificial but in the Name of Jesus, it’s so worth it. I’m having major growing pains right now, however, I’m growing, learning and breaking freer daily and no matter what I go through, I believe, with everything me, with the Power of Christ in me, I can and will, OVERCOME.
Overcoming and learning to die is a daily, constant lifestyle change, it’s a journey of rising high, falling low, going backwards and making straight strides forward. The key to overcoming though is staying on the battle field, yielding daily to Christ and never giving up.
Giving up is not an option, not for me, not for you, not for anyone who has the spirit of Christ in them. We can, if we surrender to God, moment by moment, DIE TO EVERYTHING weighing us down. After all, we have the resurrecting power of Jesus living on the inside, all we need to do is activate our faith to walk in obedience, focus on Jesus, our finish line and believe. Our land is ours for the taking if we believe what Christ said we are, VICTORIOUS!
Now let’s Arise & Go and Possess Our Promise!
Continue to join me as I share with you what Christ is sharing with me about overcoming. As always, Be Encouraged, Stay Connected, Fight and Let’s Become Free Together!
