If I had to sum up and describe my Christian journey with the Lord, I’d describe it in six words: a continuous state of “Surrendering, Dying & Saying Yes to Jesus.” Without our consent, surrender and declaring yes to Jesus, we can’t do anything effective for the Kingdom. Without our surrender to The Lord, we can’t grow, change, there’d be no supernatural power, increase, impact, anointing, no real transformation or breakthrough to help first ourselves and then others. Without our surrender to Christ, all we have is religion and routine but no power.
In my process of physical transformation, I find it’s getting harder and harder. Why? When The Lord calls you to a higher place, there’s more required of you. I given up much for the kingdom, but that’s not enough, He wants it all. I have to be willing to hold back nothing.
Everyday, I’m learning how to die AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN! It doesn’t just stop with one day of dying and that’s it, there’s a continuous state of dying moment to moment. What do I have to die to? Denying myself the foods I love, my own comfort, letting go of offenses that have caused me great pain, injustice, my personal rights, my thoughts, my feelings, selfishness, pride, personal motives, agendas, finances, control, the right to defend myself, vindication, God’s will, etc.
I realized a long time ago that my life was not my own. But today, I realize the more I grow in Christ, I’m shedding Ke’Shawn more and more. There’s more Christ is trying to give me, but, I have to COOPERATE with Him and surrender to His process, His way, His will, His timing. I can’t have my own way and expect to get what He’s trying to give me doing it my way.
I realize that when things become too hard, when I face road blocks, challenges and when battles come my way, He’s trying to teach me and take me higher in Him. Right now, I’m being taught and it doesn’t feel good, BUT, I have faith that in this process, as I surrender, He’s bringing me to his desired end.
Today, if you hear Him speaking to you, do not harden your heart. There’s something He’s trying to give you, us, as we let go and surrender to Him. Surrender what? Those things we hold near to our heart, something He’s calling us away from, something He’s calling us too, something we’re attached too, something we love or perhaps something we’re afraid of.
Matthew 19:28-30 (NLT) says,
28 Jesus replied, “I assure you… 29 everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then.[c]
Philippians 1:21(NIV)
21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
