Growing in God is not for the faint at heart. When you desire to grow bigger, stronger, more valiant in Christ, to be more effective not only in your personal life, but in the spirit, to be more effective and impactful helping those around you and begin to truly seek after the will and purpose of God, I come to tell, to attain this level of growth, Christ will begin to require some things of you and most times, it’s going to hurt.
I’m coming to learn that in everything we do for the kingdom of God and to attain a higher level of spiritual growth in Him, the prerequisite of growth in Christ is death.
Death to what? Death to yourself! Death to your desires! Death to your will! Death to your emotions! Death to your rights! Death to your personal passions, dreams, pursuits, motives and agendas! Death to any and everything you want or think you need and to DENY YOURSELF! In this walk, we are required and summoned by God to be in a constant state of dying, from moment to moment, decision to decision, choice to choice.
Why?
Because Christ did! He was born as a man, took on the human attributes and weaknesses of a Man, but, He was still God! In all that He was, He had to consistently die. Die to what? Die to being God. Die to His own power and authority! Die and humble Himself to a wicked and cruel world. Die for us and not only gives us the ability to die but live and live in victory.
Romans 6:7 says,
7 For when we die, we are set free from the power of sin.
The bible did’t say if we die, it said, WHEN WE DIE which say’s to me that the capacity to die is in the now, that I’m actually empowered to die NOW and from moment to moment, I’m dying if, I choose to resist the devil and submit to God.
Moreover, not only do I have power NOW to die, but when I choose to die, when I say YES to God and NO to satan, sin and satan looses it’s grip over me. As I say NO, I’m freeing myself and walking in the supernatural power of God to break my own shackles in Christ. The more I say NO to satan moment by moment, the stronger I become.
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT) says,
13 The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
Romans 6:4,22 goes onto say,
4 By our baptism, then, we were buried with him and shared his death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from death by the glorious power of the Father, so also we might live a new life… 22 But now you have been set free from sin and are the slaves of God. Your gain is a life fully dedicated to him, and the result is eternal life.
The only power satan has over us is the power we give him. The only power satan has over us is believing the lies he tells us. The only power satan has over us is our lack of unbelief and doubt in God’s word.
The Word say’s we have the ability to overcome, but we have to choose from moment to moment to be courageous, strong and immovable to exercise our rights and authority to EVERYTHING contrary to the will of God. We have the spiritual backing of Heaven to say YES to the spirit and YES to God, His Plan, His ways, His Purpose.
The supernatural of God only comes through death. The truth is, the more we die, the more Christ can give us… it’s a divine exchange. If we want more, we have to be willing to let go more. Let’s resolve in our mind today that we’ll crucify ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Jesus in exchange for more power, authority and to do what Jesus does in heaven, on earth.
Continue to join me as I share with you what Christ is sharing with me about overcoming. As always, Be encouraged, Stay Connected, Fight and Let’s Become Free Together.
