As I’m in prayer at this moment, the Lord is speaking and had me turn to:
Ezekiel 36:23-38 (NIV)
23 I will show the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, the name you have profaned among them. Then the nations will know that I am the Lord, declares the Sovereign Lord, when I am proved holy through you before their eyes.
24 “‘For I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land. 25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols.
26 I WILL GIVE YOU A NEW HEART and PUT A NEW SPIRIT IN YOU; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.28 Then you will live in the land I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God. 29 I will save you from all your uncleanness. I will call for the grain and make it plentiful and will not bring famine upon you.30 I will increase the fruit of the trees and the crops of the field, so that you will no longer suffer disgrace among the nations because of famine.31 Then you will remember your evil ways and wicked deeds, and you will loathe yourselves for your sins and detestable practices.32 I want you to know that I am not doing this for your sake, declares the Sovereign Lord. Be ashamed and disgraced for your conduct, people of Israel!
33 “‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: On the day I cleanse you from all your sins, I will resettle your towns, and the ruins will be rebuilt. 34 The desolate land will be cultivated instead of lying desolate in the sight of all who pass through it. 35 They will say, “This land that was laid waste has become like the garden of Eden; the cities that were lying in ruins, desolate and destroyed, are now fortified and inhabited.”36 Then the nations around you that remain will know that I theLord have rebuilt what was destroyed and have replanted what was desolate. I the Lord have spoken, and I will do it.’
The heart is such an intricate muscle/organ in our body. We can’t survive without it. It’s main function is to keep things running smoothly in our bodies to ensure all the other parts gets what’s needed to thrive and survive. Without our hearts functioning properly, we would die.
Our hearts in the spirit realm works the same way. Spiritually, our heart is the seat of our emotions and is basically, who we really are. Our emotions is a part of our soul and our soul comprises of our Mind, Will and Emotions.
Our heart dictates all that we do and say. The overflow of our heart can be good or evil, but whatever our actions are, it reflects the condition of our heart.
Proverbs 23:7
…We become what we think in our hearts…
Only God knows the true intents and condition of our heart. As we sojourn in this life, the things that happen to us both good and bad, we hold in our heart. What we indulge in lies hidden in our heart. The things we’re not so proud of, we hold in our heart. Our disappointments, guilt, shame, our hopes. dreams and highest aspirations are all hidden in our heart. Tragedies, death and loss lie hidden in our heart. Who we have become is a direct result of what’s been lying in our heart.
We have no idea what lies in the depths of our heart, but God wants to show us. God isn’t just asking those who are in vicious cycles, struggling with obesity or any other addiction, vice, habit or struggle to just search our hearts. He requires each of US to examine our heart so He can clean us up, get rid of the filth, hurt or pain so we can be fully used and effective for Him.
The bible mentions the condition of our heart thousands of times in the bible. Here are a few examples:
Psalm 139:22-24 (NLT)
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
Numbers 27:16 (CEV)
16 “You are the Lord God, and you know what is in everyone’s heart.
Matthew 12:34 (NLT)
…For whatever is in your heart determines what you say.
Matthew 13:15 (NLT)
15 For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear,
and they have closed their eyes—so their eyes cannot see,and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me
and let me heal them.’
Numbers 27:16 (CEV)
16 “You are the Lord God, and you know what is in everyone’s heart.
Matthew 15:8 (NKJV)
8 ‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And[a] honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me.
Matthew 15:19 (NLT)
19 For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander.
Mark 12:30 (NLT)
30 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’[a]
Matthew 6:21 (NKJV)
21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Ezekiel 14:4 (NLT)
‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: (my) people…have set up idols in their hearts and fallen into sin…
God has called me to go public with my journey so as I work out my own struggle, He want’s me to take people with me. In my working out my struggle, as I search for answers, He makes it clearer and clearer to me that the condition of our cycles or problems is not a matter of what we do, but the matter of ‘WHAT’S IN OUR HEARTS?’
God has more to say to YOU, to US, regarding the condition of our heart. He’s first asking us to rededicate our hearts to Him.
