I know in years past, entering the New Year for me was frightening. I always approached the new year with apprehension thinking, “What’s going to happen this year…what will I be walking into…what’s to come?” Those thoughts and questions automatically made my chest tight. Every new year, I thought and feared the same thing and it wasn’t until I heard a preacher recite this scripture during a Watch Night Service that changed my life and turned my fears and anxieties into excitement and anticipation.
Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV) says,
18 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not (see) it?I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
For the people of God, there’s more for us than just struggle, suffering and despair. Although we go through things and sometimes our crosses seem unbearable, there’s miracles attached to our crosses if we faint not and allow God to finish His work and bring us to an expected end. For the people of God, we carry the sufferings of Christ, BUT ALSO, there are promised seasons of reaping, harvest, recompense, rest, opportunity and new doors awaiting us. There are signs, gifts, wonders and the miraculous still available to us.
In my life, I’ve been in a wilderness season for about 7 years and even longer. During this time, it’s been intense suffering, tragedy, set-back, loss, death, debt, sickness, obesity, joblessness, injustice, persecution, you name it, we’ve been through it. But also, during this season of hardship, gifts were developed, new opportunities, new life, new birth, ministry, a new level and appreciation of suffering and developing intimacy and the character of Christ. I’ve learned through immense struggle and suffering how to truly persevere, fight and see my course to the end.
So, How are you approaching the Year of 2017? What’s your Mind-set? What is it you want for yourself, your family, God, your career etc? How are you viewing your future?
Set your mind and eyes towards your victory. Forget the past, forget the things that hurt, forget the things we can’t do anything about and set your mind on what God is trying to do through you. Don’t be afraid of CHANGE and to CHANGE! There’s more for you. If you allow God to work through you and put in the work, 2017 will birth a new beginning for you. There are new things God wants to give you. For 2017, we don’t know what’s to come especially with a new President and Administration at hand, but we know this, God is for us, He’s more than anyone against us and He’s given us everything that’s needed to go forward to fight for our victory. Whatever it is you want, it doesn’t have to be an empty promise or unfulfilled New Year’s Resolution, I don’t even make resolutions anymore.
Set Your mind on victory. Anything you want to change, write it down, and speak those things that are not as though they are. Faith comes from hearing and hearing the word of God. There is power and authority to win and you are one step and one choice closer to your victory. There is courage and boldness available to you to conquer any giant. The choice is yours.
Philippians 4:4-8 says:
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4: 8-9:
8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9 Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.
The Lord is saying,
All power, authority and dominion has been given to you upon the earth. Arise from your ashes, arise from your sorrow, arise from your circumstances, arise from complacency, stagnancy and set-backs for I’ve empowered you to take back what the enemy has stolen from you. You are not helpless to change. I did not die or design you to fall and stay down, I designed you ARISE no matter what. I died for you to have POWER & AUTHORITY to ARISE FROM ANYTHING LIFE OR THE ENEMY THROWS AT YOU. I have purpose for you and I AM soon to return. Let me find your hands busy doing my work. 2017, it’s time to ARISE from the depths and LET ME BREATHE NEW LIFE, New Hope, New Victory in you. It’s Your’s For The Taking . Choose and Move!
