The one thing that’s hard about facing your own struggles and fighting to overcome any adversity is facing the truth about yourself and admitting to your own weaknesses. No one ever truly enjoys being confronted about a weakness. Since I purposed in my heart to seek God relentlessly in my fight against obesity, especially since writing these blogs, I’m confronted with myself daily. But recently, the Lord pointed out one of my main giants that I haven’t faced or conquered as of yet that has me quite disturbed.
The giant I’m referring to is Compromise.
Compromise is a mutual agreement, a wavering/adjustment of opinions, beliefs, principals or convictions to settle a matter, to meet someone in the middle for the sake of peace or to help meet a need. Compromise is also modifying what you really want or feel based on the end goal in mind. It’s also standing mid-way between something, it’s neither a yea or a nay.
In settling disagreements to make peace, compromise is good and unifies. But, when it comes to God’s standards, it’s sin, non-negotiable and it’s what the enemy uses to keep us from obeying God, fulfilling His will and holds us back from our true purpose, destiny and walking straight into our promise-land.
According to Revelation 3:15-16, compromise is referred to as being lukewarm. Water that’s lukewarm is rather disgusting, unpleasant, unfit to be used, something the Lord disdains and vomit’s out of his mouth. Now that’s harsh!
In my case, my compromise is wavering between my own convictions and catering to my flesh in regards to food. I’ve always thought I struggled with inconsistency and wavering when it came to my eating habits, but recently during consecration, God spelled it out and said yes, your giant is compromise and it’ll prevent you from fulfilling your purpose and walking in my promise. So, now that God has illuminated my real struggle, I’m held accountable for what I know and every time I’m disobedient, I feel it and the conviction eats me up.
In researching the giants possessing the promise-land, I came across an article by Todd Bentley on The Elijah List. According to Bentley, the giant that represents compromise are the Girgashite’s. According to the article, Girgashite means “the dwellers of the clay, the dwellers of the marsh, compromise or living in the grey areas.”
This is what the Lord is saying, when you live for Christ, there can’t be any gray areas. Gray area’s leaves room for the enemy to operate. God is calling his people out of luke-warmness. When He calls us to do something, partial obedience is disobedience and it’s compromise that’s holding us back from our full purpose in Him. God understands our struggles and sent His son to help us, but in the areas of discipline and self-control, it’s up to us to make those decisions and His grace follows as we choose obedience.
The question is,
The area’s where I’m compromising, is it really worth the forfeiture of God’s promises and my destiny?
Absolutely NOT! I’m desperate for what God has for me, my kids, our future.
But at the end of the day, I have to be willing to die to myself. I have to be willing to crucify my flesh. I have to be willing to be in pain and uncomfortable. I have to be willing to make hard choices consistently. I have to be willing to say no to what I want, feel and STAND! Heaven will back me up if I step out on faith and just declare to the devil NO and keep saying NO! Saying NO is my part in my own process of deliverance and the grace of God comes to sustain me as I’m obedient.
The truth is, compromise plagues us all, not just me. We all have an area where we’re gray and God is calling us to take a stand, be bold, courageous and drive the enemy out of our land. We have so much to lose and our destiny, our children’s destiny is at stake. As I’m writing, God is saying, “the giants you won’t fight today, the giants you won’t drive out, you leave for your kids.” I can’t and won’t have that!!!!!!!!!!!
We’ll lose everything holding onto things that don’t even matter. It’s time for me to rise, and it’s time for YOU to arise too. Let’s go and get what’s ours!
I’m tired of living at the thresh-hold of breakthrough, Aren’t you?
The Grace of God to do what He’s calling us too is upon us. My prayer is that we’ll become hungry for God’s promises, courageous to face any pain, bold and relentless to face any giant and tell him NO and drive him out. Our promises are ours for the taking.
Continue to join me as I share with you what Christ is sharing with me about overcoming. As always, Be Encouraged, Stay Connected, Fight and Let’s become Free Together.
