In seeking God for my own deliverance in dying to myself, food and anything standing in the way of my ultimate physical transformation and fulfilling the purpose of God for my life, The Lord is revealing to me WHAT’s standing in my way and what area’s He’s calling me to die to.
As I was reading “Death to Self: The Path to Change & The Power of God” by Apostle Guillermo Maldonado, he identifies the characteristics that someone displays that have died to self. He states that
“a man (or woman) who has died to self…

Has no personal will…Jesus did not have His own will, He did everything that the will of The Father demanded.

Serves with the right motives…A person who has died to selfishness and will always serve thinking of people FIRST
-
Surrenders to the Heavenly Father and to delegated authority
-
Has no personal agenda…he or she no longer cares to make a name for him or herself
-
Is not easily offended
-
Does not allow emotions to control him or her
-
Has less bad thoughts because he (she) no longer thinks of himself but on God…His mind has been set free from every oppression of thoughts that the enemy sends their mind

Is passionate for doing the will of the father
-
Is someone in whom God can fully trust

Is and remains under authority

Practices sacrifice as a lifestyle…continually gives sacrifices on the alter for he (she) knows and understands that it is a function of a Kingdom Priest

Walks the extra mile and puts forth the extra effort...This person is willing to make the extra effort; to sacrifice, pray, worship, carry the burden and give more of themselves to the Kingdom of God

Is not defensive when criticized…does not feel the need to defend himself (herself) when persecuted or critized but understands their defender is God…but chooses to bless those that criticize and persecute you

Lives a different reality…sees things from a eternal perspective

Cannot be resisted by satan…a person that is dead to their ego, empowered and full of authority against the enemy

Does not hold onto anything God gives him (her)…does not deny the Lord anything

Is committed and surrendered to God”
In conclusion he states,
if you are dead to something that used to be a temptation to you, that something will never again surprise you or find a way back into your life. Rather, it will find the door closed. You will no longer react to that temptation because you are dead to your selfish desires…You will only respond to temptation when your “carnal self” is alive.”
The question Christ is asking us today, if we’re honest with ourselves,
WHAT AREAS DO YOU SEE YOU NEED TO DIE TO AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT IT?
When I read the above, I immediately knew the area’s I haven’t died too and I’m seeking God for help in those areas. I know for each area The Lord pointed out, I’m going to need to fast and pray that those area’s will no longer be my stumbling blocks and I have put those things under subjection to the Power of the Holy Ghost.
The Lord has been speaking to me through the following scripture, may it encourage you:
Colossians 2:20 (GNT)
20 You have died with Christ and are set free from the ruling spirits of the universe. Why, then, do you live as though you belonged to this world?
Colossians 3:1-2 (GNT)
3 You have been raised to life with Christ, so set your hearts on the things that are in heaven, where Christ sits on his throne at the right side of God. 2 Keep your minds fixed on things there, not on things here on earth.
Colossians 3:5 (GNT)
5 You must put to death, then, the earthly desires at work in you,
Let’s resolve to close the door on the enemy and give up and die to those very things that place a wall between us and God and His people. His supernatural power awaits us for every death we die to.
